Mealtime Magic

Mealtime can be a battle with kids, even if they aren’t picky eaters.  Kids love to come up with a reason not to eat what you made:  wrong color, not what they wanted today, smells funny, etc.  As parents, this is stressful.  You want them to eat healthy and to grow well.  Five words will end your mealtime battles, but they aren’t easy to say: “You don’t have to eat.”  Kids are good at eating when they are hungry and stopping when they are full.  Sometimes, other things are distracting them from wanting to eat:  tired, don’t feel well, too excited.  Make sure there is at least 1 item on the table you know they like, and then it is up to them to eat or not.  It may still be hard, but it will get better over time.
